The Tobacco Action Coalition of Onondaga County (TACO) engages and educates elected officials, community organizations, corporate decision makers and community members in Onondaga County to envision a tobacco-free society. We work to change the social norms, to decrease the social acceptability and to reduce the burden of tobacco usage in our community. The coalition focuses efforts to reach the following goals:
- Prevent the initiation of tobacco use among youth and young adults
- Reduce youth exposure to tobacco marketing in stores
- Eliminate exposure to secondhand smoke
- Create greater access to tobacco-free outdoor air spaces and living
- Promote education and cessation from tobacco use
- Contribute to the science of tobacco control
